TSGL Speed of Play Rules
- Play ready golf. Do not necessarily wait for the person furthest from the pin to hit first. For example, maybe someone chips on but doesn’t have putter in hand. One of the other golfers should putt even if they are further away. The same principle applies in the fairway. If you get to your ball first and you are ready, go ahead and hit if you can do so safely.
- Do not spend a lot of time looking for lost balls. The USGA rule is that a ball is lost if it cannot be found within three minutes.
- Pick up if you score double par. Make your best estimate of your probable actual shots for the hole and record that score. This does not apply in a tournament where your score will count toward your team’s score.
- Be mindful where you leave your cart and/or clubs when you approach the green. Try to position them on the way to the next hole—never in front of the hole where you will have to fetch them after everyone is done putting.
