Our next tournament is scheduled for Monday, June 5th. It’s a 4-Person Best Ball Tournament.
Note: Because of time constraints in providing tee times to Pine Meadow, you must reserve your tee time between 2pm on Thursday, June 1st and 8:00pm on Friday, June 2nd.
4-Person Best Ball Tournament – How it Works
This is not a scramble! Each person plays their own ball throughout every hole. The League Handicapper and Starter will match all golfers randomly into four-person teams; one from A-Flight and one from B-Flight or one each from A, B, C, and D flights as appropriate. All members of a team tee off together playing a normal round. At the completion of each hole, each golfer will calculate their net score (i.e. # of strokes for the hole – handicap correction indicated on the scorecard). The lowest score on a hole will be the team’s “Best Ball” for the hole. At the end of the round, the tournament winners will be the 3 lowest “Best Ball” totals.

Scoring Made Easy
Scoring is actually easier than it may sound. A scorecard will be provided for each 4-person team. It will list each golfer, show their total handicap, and indicate the number of strokes the golfer subtracts on each hole. Just write down each golfer’s score. Then subtract the first golfer’s handicap for that hole and write the total in his “Net Score by Hole”. Do the same for the second golfer and so on. Then write whichever net score is lowest in the “Net Score by Hole” box for that hole. Add the “Best Ball Scores” for all 9 holes to get your team’s final score.
“Non-Tournament” Players
If you would like a tee time on Monday, but do not want to play in the tournament, be sure to note that on your tee-time request or you will be automatically entered in the tournament. Also be aware that tournament golfers will get priority over non-tournament golfers if we fill our maximum tee times.
Things to Remember
– You need to have recorded at least 5 scores to establish a handicap and be eligible to enter the tournament.
– You must play out every hole. No gimmes. At least one player must complete the hole. For closest to the pin, we will use the course’s tape measure and record scores on the provided placards at holes #7 and #9.
– Note that you must sign up individually–no requests for playing with another player. Teams will be assigned based on handicaps.
Entry Fee and League Dues
The tournament entry fee is $5.00. If you haven’t paid league dues, they will also be collected on Monday. Like last year, the league dues are $10 (cash only). A box for your tournament fee and dues, envelopes and pencils will be in the clubhouse. Place your tournament fee and your dues in an envelope, write your name on the front, and drop them into box.
