This year we are trying a different tournament format designed to give everyone a chance to compete against golfers with similar playing ability.
Think of it this way: if you and a friend with handicaps of 4 and 14 went out to play for money, the higher handicap player would probably expect strokes. But if your handicaps were 8 and 10, you might simply play straight up and let the lowest score win.
That is the idea behind this new flighted tournament.
Players will be grouped into five flights (A–E) based on handicap ranges. Instead of competing against the entire field, you will compete against players with handicaps similar to your own. Each flight will have its own winner—and that winner could be you.
This year’s flighted tournament will be on Thursday, September 17. Tournament rules are here.
