The new season is open with new Pine Meadows course Handicaps. The USGA and Mass Golf have changed the course rating/slope and also changed the order of difficulty (handicap) assigned to each hole. See details here.
The golf gods smiled today April 13, and it was a great day for the season opener. Twenty-eight eager golfers filled all our tee times. Some folks showed winter rust and others just shone.
Steve Russo and Bill Sciarretta tied for low net at 34. Tom Gannon, Dave McDonald, and Mary Snow came in at net par. Tom started with a bogey, but had a glitch on #2 where he recorded an 8. Hey, I saw two nines by the pros last week. But, then Tom ran off 8 straight pars to finish with a 39. The perils of a low handicap. You have to shoot really well to break net par.
Dick Conant and Bill Elk recorded birdies on #7 in the same foursome. Paul Marrier birdied #3 and Bill Sciarretta birdied #8.
